I Think Of You In The Deepest Places Of My Heart

She stands at the bow and breathes deeply of the salty air as the waves lap against the ship.  What else is she doing as she quietly stands there?  Missing someone of course.

Scarfed Lady Collage -detail-
In the distance you can barely see the outline of mountains.  Is that where she's going?  Is her love there?  Who knows?  Maybe not.  Maybe she'll never see this person again.  Or maybe someone is waiting somewhere for her to arrive.  I like to think it's the latter.  Don't you?  Happy endings are better.

The blues reflect her spirit, but the corals indicate excitement, anticipation and hope.  Something is getting ready to happen.  Don't you feel it?  Looking at my small wall art you can almost hear the tumbling waves and see the seaspray misting into the air.  You can see her scarf whipping in the breeze as the ship draws closer to some dock, somewhere.

Small Wall Art

Made to decorate a small space, this altered art piece is 10x4" excluding the self-hanger.  Whether you are missing someone or not, you'll love glancing at this exhilirating yet restful scene.  It's also a very nice gift for a romance buff.  Available at my Storenvy Store, Marry Me On A Dime, a place for friendship, romance and love.

Begin Your Collage With Less Headache

Starting a collage does not have to be a headache.  Just decide on your color scheme and take the pressure off.  If you have favorite colors that you like to work with, then your decision is already made.  If you are open to many colors, then you may feel confused and procrastinate.

Collage: using a bone folder to glue papers onto background
You can quickly identify different color schemes by using a color wheel.  I have one like this inexpensive one always on hand.  It's a good starter color wheel with primary and secondary colors.

A good free online color scheme generator is Color Scheme Designer.  It's easy to use and quick, so play around with it.  I understood it in a few minutes, so I believe you will too.

Collage: complimentary color scheme papers adhered to background
As an example, see how I chose the complimentary color scheme of blue and orange for my Scarfed Lady collage?  Notice the orange is represented in tints and tones of peach, apricot, red-orange and yellow-orange.  The blues range from light blue to sky blue to marine blue.  The brilliant compatibility of complimentary colors includes all of the tints, tones and shades of both colors, in any combination.  The hues of my two foundation colors didn't have to be exact, just close as possible to the families of blue and orange.

When you begin to see beyond basic complimentary colors, such as primary blue and orange, you'll understand the wide range of matches available.  You won't feel so overwhelmed when choosing a color scheme for your collage.

Just A Little Something

Handmade Gift Tag
Have you ever thought of what attractive gift tags your doodles can make?

My little birdie scribble has a brother.  They both are waiting to greet gift recipients with a perky hello.  How happy I am that I didn't send them to the round file!  They are much more useful as creative bearers of good will.

Isn't it interesting how we try so hard to execute a perfect piece of artwork, when a doodle like this can bring so much joy and pleasure to someone's life?  Loosen up and create.  You would do more creating if you would stop trying to be so perfect.

This scrap piece of card stock has a blended pastel background. I finished it with hand lettering and accents in black permanent marker, and a raffia tie.  Buy this tag , along with 2 others of your choice at my Gift Tag Shop at Craftsu.

Valentine's Day Creativity Can Be Blue Too

Design a quick, wooden desktop ornament for someone special. It's small and fast. I recycled these from a candle wrapper. They were attached to a string and tied around it.

Change your colors to make it suitable for a man too, like my blue one.
