Rose Box

This is one of my favorite little boxes and I am sorry the pic is so poor. You can barely see the 10 dried rosebuds adhered to the top. It was a delight to make.

I covered this pre-made papier mache box in tea paper, painted the bottom & inside, painted the lid in cream-colored acrylic, and stamped it with peach polka dots. The trellis effect on the sides was done by doing quick swipes with a brush.

The red heart shapes were stamped with a stylized rose image foam stamp. I applied paint to the leaf of the rose only (not the full rose image) and stamped it. The polka-dots on sides and top of lid were stamped with cake decorators. These are short wooden dowels with circles of foam glued to the ends. I bought them on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $1 for 2 small and 2 med.

That is so beautiful! Did you cover the dowels with foam or did they come that way?

Have a Blessed Week!

Hi Flassie: The little, short dowels came with one end capped with a tiny circle of foam. But you know polka-dots can be made with any number of tools, including a pencil eraser. I just bought the dowels because they were so cheap (pennies) and we know how fun and addictive it is to buy art supplies! Lol!
