Transparent Jeweltone Soapmaking Scents The Whole House

I like mixtures, concoctions and combinations, which is why I get such joy from creating simple soaps.

Glycerine Soap with Pressed Leaves and Flowers
I use pre-scored glycerine blocks which come in many forms.  Some ingredients like shea butter, aloe or coconut causes the glycerine to be milky, cloudy or marbled.  Though I may one day make a batch with them, I prefer the clear glycerine because I love adding color that makes my soaps glow with transparent jewel tones.  It's like looking through glass, which is one of my favorite craft media.

Glycerine Soap with Witch Hazel to Tighten Pores
When my containers, tools and products are assembled I prepare a water bath to melt the selected number of blocks.  I use fragrance and colors for body scents and soapmaking, and I choose beneficial ingredients to add.  I study herbs, spices and blending to create my own recipes for my mixtures.

Handmade Glycerin Soaps Wrapped in Tissue Paper and Raffia
Of course glycerine soaps are good for all skin types and make great hand-wrapped gifts.  Since I like working with tissue paper my first few batches were wrapped in it.  Brown kraft paper, waxed paper and crystal wrap also make good handmade packaging.  Handpainted paper will make soap packaging that will be especially appreciated by artists and crafters.

Half Bars of Handmade Glycerine Soap
Glycerine soaps are easy to cut in half, or even fourths, to sell or give as trial sizes.  When I decide to make a batch for this purpose, I place the embedded botanicals so that I won't cut through them.  I want at least 1 whole pressed flower or leaf to show in each small piece.

Springtime is a good time to fill the house with fragrant soapmaking.  Lemon, lavender, vanilla, sandalwood, rose, patchouli, vetiver...

They look absolutely lovely! Soap is fun to create, and I like that you are adding your own unique touch to the bars.

I'm always happy when I have something that will fit well into your theme. You know Angie, handmade packaging almost gives me as much of a thrill as creating the handmades! Ain't life grand, when you're a crafter, artist, cook, writer...
